2017 Update

Hey there, long time no see!
I stopped updating this blog about a year ago but hopefully I can get back on track this Summer. Since the last time I posted I went back to school, I'm studying something completely different from what I originally did the first time I applied to college. I studied Art my whole life and I wanted to pursue Cinema, and that's what I studied for a while until I dropped out. A few years went by and even tho I'm still very passionate about the Seventh Art, I decided I wanted to learn more about other cultures and learn new languages, so that's my goal for the next few years. My mental health took a toll of my life the first time around and I am still struggling with it (and probably will for the rest of my life), but even if it takes me a while longer than most people, I hope I can finish my degree this time.
I've also been working on a few exciting projects that will hopefully see the light of day in a few months, so I will try to keep this updated as best as I can. I apologize in advance if I can't keep up with "Movies of the Month" or other series I started in the past, but I will try to post something similar and, of course, I will review some of the cruelty-free products I've been loving this past year.

To the few people who are still following this blog, thank you so much for your support and please leave me some feedback as I make my way back into the blogging world.

Shows I watched recently ♡

The Tatami Galaxy

This quickly turned into one of my favorite anime shows. It's a very short-lasting, fast-paced series that might seem a little hard to keep up with at first, but after a while you get used to the fast monologues and the abrupt cuts. The episodes start off with the same unnamed college student choosing a different student society that will define his social and academic path during college, and how every choice affected the course of his life.
There are a lot of different art styles throughout each episode which make the visuals very unique, entertaining and incredibly beautiful.

Number of Episodes: 11

Star vs The Forces of Evil

Star is a princess from the Mewni dimension who was sent to Earth as a foreign exchange student after she accidentally set her parents' castle on fire. She then befriends Marco and together they fight off monsters who come from Mewni to steal Star's magic wand. It's a fun and laid-back show with a super-catchy theme song. So far it's only one season long, but the second season will premiere in July and the show was recently renewed for a third season.

Number of Episodes: 21

Movie of the Month: May

Terrifying Girls' High School: Lynch Law Classroom (1973)

I'm a sucker for most exploitation films and pinky violence is no exception. Lynch Law Classroom is the second movie from the Terrifying Girls' High School series, and probably the most known out of all four. It takes place in School of Hope, a high school for delinquent girls that prides itself on setting them straight and turning them into "obedient housewives". After a terrible disaster, three new students join the school and start planning on how to bring down its corrupt administration.

Directed by Norifumi Suzuki.

Portuguese April Releases

As Shia LeBeouf once said "yesterday you said tomorrow, so just do it". Filled with wonky beats, some hints of grime and even Cowboy Bebop references, this album is a rollercoaster of feelings from start to finish. It was released on April 22nd by the Portuguese label Revolve and the upcoming collective Tsuno, and has 50 limited edition tapes that you can buy here. EGBO is playing a few release shows next week in Lisbon and GuimarĂ£es. He is also great at giving advice and reminds you to stay hydrated.

Mike El Nite

Produced by DWARF, this album features killer lyrics, a ton of collaborations and sounds like no other Portuguese hip-hop album has sounded before. The first single was T.U.G.A. (you can watch the official video here) and the full album is available in disc form and to download for free at NOS Discos. A few days after the album was released, Mike El Nite played a packed show at Musicbox in Lisbon that made everyone sing along to these new anthems.

Treehouses 2290

One of the first posts I did on this blog, I talked about these boys. A year has passed, their name changed (slightly), their sound changed, but they are as great as ever. The Difference Between a House and a Home is a bit more dreamy and shoegazy when compared to their original pop-punk sound, but still carries the same vibe the band always had. They played a release show a few days ago and since I couldn't make it, I'm hoping they'll announce more shows in the near future. The tapes for this EP will be available soon in their bandcamp page.

All of these albums are available at Spotify if you want to stream them there.

Favorite cruelty-free leave-in conditioners ♡

So first off, there is R&B. I mentioned this product before on a Lush favorites post, the scent is very sweet and slightly citrusy and will linger in your hair for hours - but not in an 'overbearing perfume' kind of way, just every once in a while, when there is a breeze, that nice scent will come and go.
To use it, just grab a little bit on your fingers, rub it through your hands so you can apply it more evenly, and run them across the tips of your hair, it will look instantly more lively and hydrated. You can use the leftover on your hands to take out some frizz you might have or even some unwanted volume.
If you want a life saver, go for Salerm21. This is definitely my all-time favorite leave-in conditioner. I used to buy it at a salon that unfortunately had to close down, and I haven't seen it in stores ever since, but you can still order it on Amazon. When I started using it, I had really long and damaged hair and this was a miracle worker; a small amount would make my split-ends look completely restored and healthy. It has a very soft and pleasant scent that I can't quite grasp, it just reminds me of nice hair salons for some reason. Just apply it the same way as R&B and you're good to go.

Movies of the Month: April

This MOTM is going to be a little different. I didn't watch a lot of movies in April, but I did marathon Mad Max with my boyfriend and it was awesome. I'm not usually a big action movie fan (in fact, most of them bore me to death), but this dystopian film series is definitely a must-watch masterpiece.
